The Local Area
Two hours by car North West from Inverness, travelling through spectacular Highland scenery, lies the traditional crofting and fishing community of Coigach, which is set against a backdrop of dramatic mountains with stunning views to the Summer Isles, Skye and Lewis. 25 miles from Ullapool with the last 15 miles down a single track road, Reiff is the last crofting township at the end of the road.

Food Deliveries
  • Supermarkets don't deliver to Reiff but you can do Click & Collect in Ullapool Tesco.
  • Donald Russell delivers to the house. They supply very good quality meat, fish and prepared meals. www.donaldrussell.com
  • Dukeshill also delivers to the house and they supply excellent quality whole hams, bacon, sausages, charcuterie, cheese, pickles, chutneys, puddings and other pantry items. www.dukeshillham.co.uk

Altandhu (2 miles away)
  • Camp site shop sells newspapers, logs, firelighters, kindling, milk, vegetables, meat, ice creams, portable bbqs, extendable forks, charcoal, beer and wine and lots of other essential items.
  • Am Fuaran pub has really great food. Lobster, fish and chips, scallops, smoked salmon, chicken pie, steaks and amazing chocolate brownies and sticky toffee pudding. It is essential to book though, especially in the summer months. Tel: 01854 622 339.
  • Honesty box veg stall... there is also a little stall by the side of the road just before the Am Fuaran pub on the left (if you are coming from the house) that sells jams, fresh veg and herbs and home made pesto, eggs etc. There is an honesty box and Di always has lovely things so it is definitely worth stopping there. Best to go in the morning as things get snaffled very quickly!

Polbain (4 miles away)
  • Fisk Gallery, 192 Polbain, IV26 2YW is a lovely shop selling beautiful hand made and painted ceramics and textiles, candles and jewellery.

Achiltibuie (5 miles away)
  • Achiltibuie Stores is where you can fill up with petrol and buy anything from buckets and spades to bread, milk, batteries, vegetables, dry goods or ice cream. All sorts really. They often have fresh scallops and fish. In season you can order lobsters from here. Teresa owns the shop and her husband is a local fisherman. You can also buy fishing permits from them to fish on some of the local lochs and there is a post office in Achiltibuie if you need it.
  • Summer Isles Hotel in Achiltibuie, IV26 2YG is a bar, restaurant and beer garden open for lunch and dinner. Dogs are welcome in the bar and beer garden and they serve good food with amazing views.

Ullapool (25 miles away)
  • Smallish Tesco's but it has most things, located at Latheron Lane, Ullapool, IV26 2XB
  • West Coast Deli, 5 Argyle Street, IV26 2UB, has amazing cheese, excellent homemade soup, cheese toasties and lots of other goodies.
  • The Seaforth Fish and Chips, Quay Street, IV26 2UE, for excellent fish and chips.
  • DM Seafoods on Shore Street, Ullapool, IV26 2UR is a great fish shop.
  • JoJo Cafe at 4 West Argyle Street, Ullapool, IV26 2TY has lovely ice creams, coffees and sandwiches.
  • The Seafood shack, at 9 Argyle Street, Ullapool, IV26 2TY, is an award winning outdoor shack that serves lobster, scallops, langoustines, cullen skink, paella and many more delicious things., The menu changes daily depending on the daily catch. It is definitely worth going to although make sure you get there early as they don't take bookings and the queue can be long at peak times. Open from the end of April throughout the summer months everyday from 12pm to 4pm. www.seafoodshack.co.uk
  • Oak and Grain is a wood-fired pizza van specialising in Neapolitan Pizza. It opened in March 2022 and operates on Quay Street, next to The Free Church. It has all the usual classics with interesting twists, like pepperoni drizzled wit hot heather honey and sweet pizzas such as melted milk chocolate, banana and Crunchie calzone.
  • The Dipping Lugger is a fine dining restaurant offering exquisite tasting menus, overlooking Loch Broom. Lunch is served Friday to Sunday and dinner Thursday to Sunday. www.thedippinglugger.co.uk

  • There is a huge Tesco Superstore 5 minutes from the airport at Dores Road, Inverness, IV2 4XT on the A96.
  • There is another Tesco Extra in the Business and Retail Park, 1A Eastfield Way, Inverness, IV1 7GD.
